Yeah, saw the same thing

I'm sure Nissan just took one off the line and let him use it. No ringers there...

If anyone wants the one I have coming next next week, at a premium, let me know...

Say what you want about him, but Clarkson calls him as he sees them. If it was an overhyped computer simulator then he would have said that. Time will tell how well all of its hypertechno bits will hold up, but wow, to build something that is as quick as a Scuderia for $70k? Good Lord.

Jesus, it's ugly though.

I dont believe the car will hold up. It has taken forever for them to release the car here.

So the question begs, is that another ringer, or is Nissan actually playing fair this time?

GTRs have promised so much for a long time now. I remember there were always a few in the Targa Tasmania rally, for example, but they kept breaking down and Porsches kept winning because they kept running. The added complexity of this model is just asking for trouble.

We've seen 1/4mi that range from 11.5/124 to 12.6/116

0-60 from 3.3 to 4.1

Does that sound like only sampling error?

I really don't know, but it seems fishy.

Either the car is just a little slower than a GT2 or it's a little faster than an M3

GTR underway to carry me over until 2010 GT3 RS arrives.

I will take it to Sebring ASAP and post some laptimes and feed back, if I manage not to sell it. Lets see how it hold up in the Florida climate.

It should arrive 08-08-08.

My GT-R will be here next week

I don't know if I should take it and wait for prices to drop on RS's or flip it and just get an RS.

I think RS's will be the Porsche to keep from this era, and GT-3's in general

When the 1996 993 Turbo came out, magazines were also all over the map in regards to 0-60, ET and mph. I remember seeing an 11.9 sec 1/4 mile @ 119mph in Turbo magazine, while most mainstream mags were getting mid 12's @ 114mph.

One magazine (I think it was C&D) got a 0-60 of 3.6 seconds while others got > 4 seconds. The slowest mph I found was 111mph so there was a 8mph difference between the best and worst for the 993 Turbo. Doesn't make the 8mph variance the Skyline is getting seem too far off.

With a turbo car, there are so many variables that come into play, especially temperature. If you've ever owned a turbo car, you know how HUGE a difference air temp plays in power generation. Especially as the modern cars are so close to the knock limits, temperature and fuel quality play an even larger role.

Any way you slice it, the new GTR is one hell of a machine and massive good value. Similarly, our GT3's are pretty damn good value as well. There really isn't anything that compares in this price range. I've tried the Exige S, Z06 and Ferrari 360 and none provides the combination the GT3 does.

I think you could drive the GTR for a bit and still sell it for a profit after the newness wears off and the ugliness gets to be too much to bear.

That was my plan, but they are going so crazy high, I might just sell it.

Kinda hoping I get to drive it for a while, the GT3's are still 6 months away at least.

My Gawd, why would anyone part with their hard earned cash for something so hideous looking? I don't care if it handles like an F1 car, those Nissans were beat by the ugly stick.....over and over again!
