Porsche has gotten smarter. Why not make more of the expensive varietal for even more profit? Next year they will probably badge the base model RS and the higher model the RSS or RSGT or RSR

Does anyone know for sure that they stopped production of the 997 GT3 and RS at the end of December 2007; or did they build a few more in Jan, Feb or even later? I can see Porsche building a certain amount through Dec 07 and then slowly realeasing them to dealers to keep the "hope" alive for some of ordering a brand new '08 or simply getting a new '08; and then in the end settleing for a used one at inflated prices.

Either way, 40 RS and 31 GT3 is not a whole lot for year to date.

Some customers had to be taken care of because of Dealer created problems. Kudos to Porsche for stepping up to the plate.

406 total

There were somewhere around 290 2007s and then the rest are 2008s.
When the 2007s stopped and the 2008s started is unknown.

my guess:
290 2007s
116 2008s
406 total

There should be at least one RS for July:

Circle Porsche just put this orange RS one their web site, with 1 mile on the odometer.
Asking MSRP + $50k.

Just a guess. I bought mine from a dealer late August '07 w/ appx 1000 miles, Invoice said Used, but received treatment as new from Porsche NA. ie a new subscription to Chrisophourus for one. Something I thought you only get w/ New car purchase.
Perhaps these Resold, low milage 3's get them "credit" for future allocation/s??
