Default PDK?

Just wanted to know if anyone here knew if the GT3 or 3RS is coming with the PDK optional? I would imagine they would, it supposedly is faster around the 'ring than a conventional box, so wouldn't it make sense to have it on a track car? Thanks guys, sorry if this is a repost.........just wanted to know.

Supposedly it is not coming on the GT3 in the near future. The current PDK has a torque limit that the turbo, GT3, and GT2 both surpass.

from the reviews, you wouldn't want the 2009 model year version of PDK anyways- it's counterintuitive in operation (throw directions are reversed from what race cars use), and without paddle shift style, is basically just like the tiptronic with silly buttons.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was true. But also, remember there is no 09 GT3, so it would also not surprise me if they spend a year building a new PDK system that can handle the torque loads.

They've just been showing all the journalists the Audi R8 TDI, but it's torque limited to 1/2 (!) the normal torque because the tranny can't take it. So, in less than a year they'll have a new transmission that can handle the full load. That's how these guys work, very quick.

I will wait until they are track proven. If they want me to be a test pilot, give me a car for free.

Roberga, you said it. Sign me up for testing too. My 'ol clutch knee isn't what it used to be
Perhaps, they'll come up w/ one for the 2, 3, & T, it'll be marketed as a "real raceing paddle shifter" and make it intuitive in direction. Read more $$.

I cant imagine the torque of the next GT3 being far in excess of the 997S 3.8L with X51 factory motor package. That motor is going to have PDK as an option.

Torque limit? The currrent Carrera S has basically the same torque as the GT3. The new DFI 997S has even more torque, so the GT3 engine shouldn't stress it that much...
