GT3 Alignment info
#4
I just had my alignment done today so I'll throw in what my car came with from the factory just to confirm the random settings from a 08 gt3. PLEASE ALIGN YOUR STOCK CARS even if you only go to factory specs =)
Front Left/Right
1.3/1.3 degree camber (factory range -1.4 -1.3)
8.1/8.1 degree of caster (factory range 7.5 - 8.5
0.10/0.04 degree of toe (factory range 0.03 - 0.07)
17.8/17.8 degree of SAI
16.5/16.5 degree of Included angle
Rear Left/Right
1.4/1.6 degree of camber (factory range -2.1 -1.9)
0.18/0.02 degree of toe (factory range 0.18 to 0.25)
The dealerships recommended track setup left me a bit short on the front camber, they told me to bring it back if I thought I needed more but most people they use this on are happy with it.
Front Left/right
-1.6/-1.7 degree camber
8.4/7.9 degree of caster
0.04/0.02 degree of toe
Rear Left/Right
-3.1/-3.1 degree camber
0.25/0.26 degree of toe

- in my opinion, that is way too much rear camber (factory track recommendation is -2.5) for the front camber (-1.6) that you are running
- also, there is no reason that they shouldn't be able to give you level camber left/right on the front
- order some shims in order to add some more front camber (-2.5 range is good), get your front toe to at least zero and reduce the rear camber to the -2.5 "range" and you will like the car a lot more on the track and the rears will last a lot longer

- Missed the rear toe stuff
- that is a lot of toe in. - in combo with the camber those rear tires are going to wear very very quickly
- I would bring the car back and ask them to comp you on a redo as those rear specs are just so very off even what Porsche is recommending
- I actually hung out with a pit crew guy who sets up 12hr cars and they use 0 toe front and rear to save the tires

I used the setup I posted above at a low grip track today and my lap times were dramatically improved over my last visit with the stock alignment. An infrared temp gun indicated about 195 on the inside of the rears, going down to about 170 gradually to the outside for whatever that is worth.
The fronts had the same results with the temp gun starting with 175 on the inside down to about 150, and they are only 1.8 degrees.. the inside was the hottest all around.
I haven't been able to figure out if this is something I can fix with my alignment or what, but exiting tight corners the front tires can skip a bit, they grab fine but you can distinctly feel a 4-5 quick bumps from the outside tire.
