Pagid RS-29 Pads ok with PCCB?
I found a thread where a 997 GT-3 driver with PCCBs was using these pads (and raving about them), yet there is a disclaimer on the Renn-store web-site saying these pads are NOT for PCCBs. Will rotor wear be excessive? I'm willing to swap the pads before track events if the performance on track will be superior and they won't destroy my expen$ive rotors.

I am trying the P50 pads (front and rear) also.
They are coded in the porsche motorsport catelog as for steel rotors
So far i would say they work great for ontrack use:
- the car stops geat repeatedly
- they take a few corners to come up to temp
- they are 2/3mm thicker than the stock pads so they will last longer
- they are clearly made of a material that works at higher temp so the rears for sure will last longer
On the street so far
- you have to be careful the car doesn't stop as well
- so far they do not squeal on the city streets but i haven't put many non track miles on them and don't plan on it
If you are ok with changing pads for track events, I would say give it a try but they (P50) are not street pads - I would think the pagid p29s share similar qualities (good for the track not the best for the street)

Glenn,
- Nice info about the rs29s.
- You say that they are noisy, are they noisy on the track, the street or both.
- The P50 pads I'm using, so far are not street noisy (could change any moment of course - just like any race pad i have ever used) but when warm on the track do make that race pad sound
- are you getting even wear front and rear with the rs29s (i.e. are the rears holding up better)?
- are the rs29s are few mils thicker than the stock oe pads just like the p50s?
thanks

They last about 50% longer than the standard pads i would guess, this is poss helped by the fact that the rear ones are a bit thicker i think.
The wear rate seems to be even front to rear now, rather than more on the rear.
Are these P50 ones, the ones that are the porsche recommended upgrades on the GT2 ?, are they any beeter on track ?

- Yes these are the recommended upgraded track pads in that gt2 memo but Porsche motorsport disagrees with the memo
- these are not pads that i would let the wife go out and drive the car with as they have very low grip at street temps
- when they heat up they are fantastic
- if someone here knows someone at pagid, it would be nice to find out what are the differences between the rs29s and p50s

I am with the Canadian. I have been using the greens(P-50) for 3 years and they work well. No reason for me to go to something else. The local P distributor even told me that he would rather not sell me pads for me car.

- his initial answer was that he can't order these parts
- i said, since it is listed in the service memo with parts listed, maybe he could phone atlanta and ask them
- he said no problem
- phoned atlanta, and atlanta told him to go ahead and order from motorsport
- he told them he wasn't allowed to order from motorsport (the guy in atlanta didn't know this???)
- a few days later he called me and said he could order them?
- he ordered me front and rear pads
- after placing the order, motorsport spent a long time trying to convice him that these pads would not work for me as i wouldn't be able to get enough heat in the pads
- he was a little nervous about getting them for me after getting this snow job
- i said, look, i want them, they are for the track, i'm eating rear pads like candy, i have 30 trackdays in the car and i'm on my 5th set of pads so please order me 1 set + and OE set for the street
- 4 days later, on the way to Watkins Glen for the Cups and Saucers event, I picked them up and put them in after the first day
- i bedded them in on the few mile drive to the track from the garage in town and they worked perfectly
- they absolutely need a few corners to warm up but then they are absolutely rock solid
- so far, with 3 trackdays on them (watkins 1 + 2 Mosport) the rear pads look almost new (no way would this be true with the OE pads)
- 2 thumbs up for the p50 pads for track use on pccbs (don't let anyone tell you differently)

I have that TSB and it does state that the pads are for track use only and if the car is to be driven home from the track that the pads must be switched in the paddock. I do not bother as they work fine on the street. They do take a little more pressure
