What's the point of getting reclinable seat when our cars don't even have back seats.

$. Making them reclining allows Porsche to offer them on all 997 models at a nice premium.

They are not reclinable....
The backrest will fold forward...

SPORT BUCKET SEAT info from GT2 info
A car that is capable of such extreme lateral loads requires a seat with exceptional support. The standard sport bucket seat has manual fore/aft adjustment plus two additional features rarely encountered on comparable seat designs: a folding backrest and an integral thorax airbag in the side support.

The folding function enables easy access to the rear luggage area. The backrest pivots are positioned high in the side bolsters, providing optimum support for the torso, pelvis and legs. This is the first time ever that the lateral support of a bucket seat has been combined with a folding backrest.

The backrest shell has a glass-fiber reinforced plastic core and a carbon-fiber surface with visible weave pattern. This construction provides excellent rigidity while also reducing weight. The seat is compatible with a six-point racing harness.

The sport bucket seat features black leather with Alcantara center; Dark Grey natural leather with Alcantara centre is also available as an option.

Thanks guys.

I dont care so much about being able to recline, but I do like that they have an air bag, which makes me feel a tiny bit safer.

My Porsche dealer will not install the euro gt3 recaro seats because they have to disable the air bag warnings.

Yep, that's typical.

I sat in the new GT2 buckets and I like them a lot.

I use my car as a DD and having folding buckets would be awesome. I had belts mounted in the rear of my old Mk-I making it good for carrying kids and occasional adults. But climbing behind the non-folding buckets is very difficult, and access to rear passengers in an emergency could be problematic. I will definitely order my next GT3 with the folding ones.
