Now that sounds cool - thanks! I'll give them a ring.

At least one bike rider has died on GT3 coolant on the Nordschleife, and several others have been injured, one of whom I visited in hospital.

I would love to see the definitive answer to the coolant spills published and all owners to adopt the fix.

Happened to me once, not in a GT3, but with a convertible Nissan behind me!

Poor guy didn't know what to do first... wipers? roof up? slow down? speed up? He was mad, too.

its such a senseless tragedy/waste of life... whenever you track you basically sign your life/rights away. all this from a coolant hose? I know there are a ton of things that can go wrong when tracking a car but a coolant hose/clamp?

Default 996 GT3 Engine Coolant Problems

I've recently survived the consequences of the second major coolant system failure in my 2004 GT3. I'm the original owner and I've enjoyed nearly 60,000 problem-free miles on this car, except for four coolant system problems, which first started in the summer of 2007. Two of these were slow leaks, but the other two were major system failures that resulted in loss of control on a race track. This most recent problem caused me to spin going into turn 2 in the esses of Watkins Glen at over 100 MPH. As a result of this latest incident, I will no longer use Porsche engine coolant in my GT3. I strongly advise anybody else who tracks their car to switch to a coolant that is not slippery.

I totally agree. Indeed, this is required on most of the Racing series.

Street coolant is as slippery as oil. A small leak at the track can get anyone in big trouble.

Sharkwerks also markets screens and I have a set on the front of my GT3 seem to work well and the one day I drove the car before it went back to the shop for the oil pressure issue I saw no increase in temps after an hour run in 100 degree Texas heat and they look good.
