Default Front camber plates/alignment

My shop tells me that in order for me to obtain more than 2.0 camber in the front they need to take out the front suspeion down and rotate the plate and relocated the studs to other three holes for more agressive camber in the front.

Is this right?

My friend with Gt3 was able to achieve this without going with such procedure. Got to love this learning times with new car.

TIA

some ppl rotate the upper shock mount like your shop suggested.
some use shims.
i dont know the plus/minus of each method.
but it IS possible to get 2.0 deg up front without doing any of the above. but more than 2.0, you will have to do one of the above two things.

not correct
far cheaper labor wise to order the shims
the shims are 996 part numbers off the 996gt3 and are not listed as 997 part number
the shims come in 1,2,3,and 7mm widths
approximately 1mm shim = 1 degress
my car's max camber was -1.7 degrees without shims
i am running -2.8 camber, I have a 7mm on each side and i think 2 2mm ones each
total parts are about $100 for all the shims you need

I ordered shims and will be installing them and doing an alignment this week.

These are the part numbers that I got.

99634154390 - 4pcs (Camber adjustment shims)
99634154393 - 4pcs (Camber adjustment shims)

Part numbers show that these are for the 996 GT3 RS.
