when will the last 997 RS be built?
are they still coming off the production line today?

two US dealers recently received 2008s, and another dealer is expecting one any day now.

cars arriving in the USA now would have be built in February or even March.

 

Looking at the VINs of the 997 GT3 and GT3 RS, some interesting things become apparent

GT3 and GT3 RS VINs are intermingled
nothing in the VIN distinguishes a GT3 from a GT3 RS
Canada's VINs are intermingled with USA VINs

North America 2007
VINs are between 2098 - 3267 GT3
VINs are between 2350 - 3266 GT3 RS

So, the range for them together is 2098 - 3266
That would be 1,170 unique VINs in that range

2007 GT3 + 2007 GT3 RS = 1,170 ?? total for North America ??



2007 RoW
VINs are between 0971 - 1045 GT3 RS
(2007 RoW GT3 RS VINs are all below USA/North American VINs)





North America 2008
VINs are between 2084 - 2324 GT3
VINs are between 2067 - 2393 GT3 RS

So, the range for them together is 2067 - 2393
That would be 327 unique VINs in that range

2008 GT3 + 2008 GT3 RS = 327 ?? total for North America ??



According to MJones, thru March 2008 there were 906 GT3 + 391 GT3 RS delivered to USA customers.


All this leads me to believe that the GT3 RS production numbers for North America are something like:

USA
2007 GT3 RS 290 the original rumors were 229+30=259
2008 GT3 RS 101 rumors said 60
total 391 possibly will end up 400+

Canada
2007 GT3 RS 30
2008 GT3 RS 6
total 36

 

It ended in january but all these cars probably got delayd because of some "Exclusive" options. It does take time depending on spec.
