RS Smokes at Start

yeah mine does that too. if it sits all week, then sat morning i take her out.... white smoke comes out for like 20sec. but if i drive it again the next day, no more smoke. there must be soem type of buildup somewhere as the car sits for a few days and clears its self out.... teh first time you start the car after sitting a few days.

I certainly have been embarrassed by my lovely drive! Only a few Pcar owners now about this “traditional” symptom!
Doesn’t feel like going out with this beautiful girl that at the most indiscrete moment break a wind!

I think it's like my old 993 Turbo. If the oil level is near the top, the car smoked, but now that it's in the low-middle range, it no longer smokes. My 993 used to do the same thing, and now the GT3 continues its father's tradition.

it's because of the piston clearances in the cylinder head...there's a really long technical explanation but basically because the engine revs so high and the pistons get warm- porsche has to leave a bit of extra room in the barrel for it all to fit at full temp and 8400 revs for a few hours (hot things expand, etc). this is also related to how the engine slops around if/when you lug it in low RPMS as well...(DON'T LUG THE CAR!!)
basically- it's all part of the balance of the rotating parts and such.
when caymans and regular 911's smoke it's from a different cause- because the oil separator is going bad. dry sump engines have much better oiling and don't typically have this problem.
