I have the leather Euro seats installed in the 996 GT3 with harnesses and a roll bar and it looks incredible and I stay plenty planted at the track. I have already purchased another pair from Suncoast for the RS. The Euro seats are to be installed the first week of May along with my Rollbar and harnesses. I just have to make sure I have PWIS adjustments OK'd.
When you say Euro seats you do mean the 996 GT3 Euro seats; correct?

Btw, do you want one of those windshield protection pieces that I have on my car; the tear off stuff that they use in NASCAR? I ordered an extra one for my 997 if you want to try it out on your RS. It really does work.

Default h'mmmm

ok so I got my 996 seats installed, being 6'1" tall I am not sure they are going to work ... I am a bit closer to the wheel now than with the stock seats and I cant hell and toe quite as well ... and that's with the seat all
the wat back

I dont the think the seat mounts are adjustable (are they?) so I cant tilt or lower the seat (i.e I think there are only 4 bolt holes) do Brey Kruse or someone else have an aftermarket set that offers some adjustment?

Also, is it my imagination or does the seat back rub on the door?

That's weird, in my gt2 if I put the seat all the way back I can hardly put the clutch all the way down, and I'm 6"2 LOL , I always have to move the seat up a lot to be in a comfortable driving position especially on the track. The seat all the way back might rub on a rollbar/cage, do you have one? I've been in a few gt3's with aftermarket seats, my friends has the 996 gt3 seats as well and its almost identical to mine position wise.

Default that is strange...

well I guess I will pull the seats myself and install the brey krause mounts that will allow me to both lower and tilt the seat backwards that will hopefully solve the problem

I do have the techquipment 997 bar in the car, but the seat backs are nowhere near the bar ...

I will report back once I've played with them!

I think you have the slider mounted incorrectly. With my seat all the way back, it would be difficult to reach the pedals (I am three inches shorter than you).

Yes the 996 Euro GT3 seats. The others are to damn expensive. Nest time we go out I may try one of the tear offs or order some. Steven is ready to go again. We just need to go when the rocks are gone. I need to protect the paint in front of the rear wheels better also.

Yea that isn't right, all the way back is FAR from the pedals and steering wheel!

Default losing side airbags!

For those who have 997 cars with the thorax airbags in the seat, who installed 996 gt3 seats, how do you feel about losing your side airbags?

I am thinking of going down the same road, but I am concerned about safety. I am trying to talk myself into it. Side airbags are a relatively new thing anyway. If I were driving 964 or a 993 I wouldnt have side airbags. I cant imagine that the doors are made weaker on the newer cars.

opinions???

If you pick the factory option of the "Lightweight bucket seats" you lose the thorax airbags that are located in the sides of the sports seats and you only have the head airbags located in the door panels.

From the factory in the 997.2 GT3RS Porsche made a small change in the door panels when you ordered the car with the lightweight buckets and added a little more foam/protection.

if the car is to be used mostly on the track, I wouldn't hesitate to remove all airbags, for the street and 3p belts I would keep them all.

I put 996 seats in my .2, doesn't bother me at all. In fact I dont even think about it. Usually Don't drive the car on the street much anymore though.
