Suggestions to help my local Discount Tire guy not wreck my car's PCCBs?

With the 996's, the PCCB equipped cars came with two wheel placement studs to support the wheel w/o touching the rotors. Make sure the tech uses both.

I have those studs on my 997 with the iron rotors and they are very helpful. I can see them being a must have item for the PCCB's which have even less clearance.

i personally wouldn't take it to discount tire... rather have a good local race shop with experience and reputation do the wheel/tire changes if it is something you are not willing to do with stud guides, etc...

you MUST use the studs, if not, you are gambling with a lot of money. if the wind blows or if you breath too hard the wheel will fall off the lip on the hub and your rotor will crack and chip.

as such, i replaced all my wheel bolts with wheel studs

Agreed. They also make for a great conversation starter with the ladies!

+1. I used them to also prevent scratching the calipers.

So, they *are* in the toolkit? - I never noticed them before, and I plan to mount my new RG5's
this weekend!

In a different thread a fellow said the 997 models did NOT have these studs in the factory toolkit. Let the gang know if you have them.

Cheers,
