Windshield Dings
Is it just me or does the windshield of the Gt3 attract every kind of road debris to hit it. I mean bugs, rocks, you name it. It must be the perfect height for impact. My 2000 mile car has the windshield of a 10k car. Ugggggh

It seems to be very "soft" glass...not just GT3 but all 997's.

I am currently using their single layer product (called ProShield):
ProShield
It is holding up well and their is no distortion.
You can also get it as a 2-layer and 4-layer versions (called Racing Optics):
2 and 4 Layer
I had the 2-layer on my Exige and it also did not have distortion. The Exige windshield has much more curvature (as in concave/convex type) than our 996/997 windshields. The pieces that they manufacture have this curvature in them. This is what helps with the distortion, and also alows you to install it on your windshield totally flat without any wrinkles. This stuff is stiff and does not stretch like the stuff you put on your paint. It must be shaped to fit the windshield curvature or it will not work.
Ask for Tim; he is a good guy and I believe he has literally installed this stuff while wearing a blindfold and got a perfectly clear install. I think he has done this a few times before.
I don't know anything about the 3M stuff, but I would only use this stuff. They really seem to know what they are doing, and I believe NASCAR uses them.
They also manufacture a temporary paint-on/spray-on type of clear bra material. This can be used for transporting the car on an open trailer, and for temporary on the track use. I have never used it, but I like the concept. You can do a quick spray on for the track, and then peel it off later for the concourse event.

Only thing you must do is make sure that you use the solution that they send you liberally. make sure that you cover every square inch of the material and the windshield before placing it. If you have dry spots in there then you can get some ghosting that will not go away and drive you nuts.

im on my 2nd windshield in 5 months. no problems with debris damage though. 4 inch glass crack near the driver a pillar during a track day. must have been due to flex since nothing hit the glass. had it replaced on insurance.
has anyone else had this happen? wouldnt the extra stiff gt3 prevent flex problems?
