Congrats on the new ride. ANd welcome to the red car club. I love my Guards red Gt3 and find it a color that fits the personality of the car perfectly.
Regarding shifting, some valuable comments were made earlier. also make sure you are shifting with your fingers not griping with your hand the feel with your fingers will help you finesse the shifting. the same goes for the steering at the track grip with your fingers and lightly with your thumb, your feel of what's happening will increase.
