I expected GTR to be a quick road car just like the turbo with superhandling AWD & torgue. But I didn't expect it to be faster than GT3 on track, because after all, GTR is a heavy GT car whereas GT3 is more track-oriented. I know GT3 was primarily designed for the road, but come on, it's a 911 without backseats.. I couldn't help but feel that GT3 is a much more focused track machine than GTR.
maybe this was staged, maybe it's because of tires, but in the video, the gap looked pretty huge and I think more track focused GT3 losing by that much margin seems suspicious.. jmo.

RED FLAG right away. They said something about the GT-R braking later than the GT3.
Physically thats just not going to happen on a car that is a half of a ton heavier.
The Porsche would have to have some really crappy brakes for that even to come close.
that does seemed staged

i love p cars.
but GTR is a new animal for USA mkt. some may not realize that GTR has God-like status in japan. some JDM aficionados would rate GT3, RS or TT as underdogs to the GTR.
which is faster i dont know, one has to drive one before buying it.
beside speed and lap time, feel also matters.
after the test drive, YOU can decided which to buy.

It looked like all the Porsche Drivers were Gt-R fans too as they moved over in 5th gear at 2000 rpm
to take alook at the staged GT-R run.
No matter WHERE the cars are built -physics still apply universally.

i agree. i was at one point intrigued by the car. but the curb wt scared me.
but it COULD still be a nice GT car.
also, despite the fact i (and we) dont like all the electronic gizmo's., some of the electronics the car has on it is pretty trick....
but you know that my garage is made for only ONE type of car.

I'm more shocked the NSX didn't win. I guess they decided to favor the Nissan since its the hot item now. That show is usually so biased towards the domestic cars its pointless to watch. look at the crappy line the driver of the turbo took. The GTR will be quick no doubt but it will be a snore to drive.

FYI: The 997TT is a Tiptronic, it would not have made a difference which line the driver took it was saddled with a handicap from the beginning.
The R35 uses cheaters tires just like the NSX-R does. Closer to R-compound tires than regular street tires.

From Nissan's website:
• 20 x 9.5" (front) and 20 x 10.5" (rear) super-lightweight forged-aluminum wheels.
• Exclusively developed nitrogen-filled Bridgestone® RE070A high-capacity run-flat summer tires, 255/40ZRF20 97Y front and 285/35ZRF20 100Y rear.

I saw that video as well, and could not help but think this thing was staged. I hope someone shows up at the track in the GTR to see what it can really do! In the hands of mere mortals, I'd put the Turbo against any stock car on street tires...even the GT3.
