This is not a great picture, but you get the idea.

I bought the Cup version. Saw several different versions at a couple of Porsche events. Need to install. Where can I find the instructions for removal of Bumper cover?

Here's one thread with some useful instructions and photos.

The tough part is just the one fiddly screw. You can cut the wheel arch liner so it's easier in the future, or just remove the liner, which really only takes a few extra minutes and then you're not flexing anything. Just have some shop rags and maybe a cardboard box or something to balance the nose as you work. And maybe lay out the screws as they come off so it's easy to keep them in sequence to go back on, otherwise they all start to look alike.

Just keep in mind it's a no-force job, so if something is resisting, it's because you've missed a screw or a fastener like those odd metal clips under the headlights.

It's also a lot less cumbersome process if the car doesn't have Xenons (no washer nipples.)

Please does anyone have a pic of the original Cup car grille and the parts number(s)? Many thanks in advance!

By "original" do you mean a current model 997 body or earlier 996 bodies? (which had a so-called Mark I and Mark II and a facelift to the headlight shape)

Anyway, you can search this forum or use Google
http://images.google.com/images?q=Cu...=1&sa=N&tab=wi

And I think grussell put a cup car bumper cover on his 997 GT3.

Here's one at GMG:

Note the painted corner lights and the slot for the recovery tow hook. This looks like it might be a real Cup car -- note the end of the tie-down hoops for factory center-lock wheels just barely visible on each side of the car.

Larry,
The complete job was done by Orbit Racing in Riviera Beach, FL. They send everything out to be powder coated. The bumper was removed and the screens were bolted directly to the back of the bumper. A labor intensive job at 3 hours (labor rate is $95/hr). They charged $450 for the grills, including powder coating.

I know that I have bought these grills myself, from Farnebacher, but seriously this must be the biggest bluff in history. 300 bucks for a set of precut mesh metal plates with som screws and the OEM Porsche is 425 + powder paint......

I'm not saying that these company are doing something wrong, but we should really think once or twice what we actually are buying.... After buying I can now make copies of these grills for 15$ painted including the screws

i agree.

my flame suit is on now.

i had a bunch of 6gt3 and one RS. totall over 100k miles. i lost one radiator (rock) and one ac compressor (slow squirrel in my way). that cost me about $2200 total.

those mesh are $500, add labor $100.
if you actually drive your cars fast, the mesh will last your no more than 1000 miles. if they aren't destroyed by then, trust me, you aren't going very fast at all. look at the mesh on the cup cars. so by 10,000 miles you would have paid in excess of $5k..... the cup car mesh are very very very extremely weak. if you bump it lightly with your knee, your toes, my 3 year olds bike tires, they self destruct. and you sure as hell dont want some ugly bent up mesh on a nice GT3.....

ok, start the flame war.
