Car Opinions
A lot of you guys have experience in many different cars. What other street cars that are stock compare with the GT3 or RS for track times, handling, power, etc. Stay at or below the price of a GT3 or RS. Do any coexist? I want to get a second car...looking at all options, cups, Z06, lotus, etc. But, for this post, please focus on street cars. With a baby (another) on the way, I may not get to race this year anyway, so I may look for a car I can do time trials with. BUT, I want a comparable experience to the RS. Is it even possible? Please elaborate...you guys are always a huge help. Roger

I loved, loved, loved my 993 Turbo. I'm confident it will go down in history as one of the all-time best Porsches ever made. If I could have afforded to keep both, I would have. At some point in the future, I will own a 993 Turbo again.
It won't be comparable to your RS if you drive flat-out on the track, but with a RUF PSS9 suspension and a good setup (alignment, RS ride height and corner balancing), you won't be far back. The great thing about the RUF PSS9 suspension is that it makes you faster on the track and more comfortable on the street while improving the aesthetics dramatically. It's a win-win-win.
The last part that makes the 993TT so compelling is that they don't seem to depreciate anymore. Even high mileage cars are being snapped up for prices that they would have sold for 2-3 years back with low miles.

you can get a BMW Z4 M for 7-10K UNDER invoice right now making a nice track car for very little
invested. I bought my wife one, she wont track it but I have seen a few good drivers in these cars at the track. 333 hp rear wheel drive for under 50K brand new drilled rotors etc etc
email me if your interested. I can give you more details. I kinda consider ours like a mini me GT3.

The MB CLK63 AMG Black Series will wow you!
This car is a "near" match for the GT3 (and I love the GT3) and a better (auto) daily driver. Great on the track too!
Drive or get a ride a ride in this car (before you make any decision), it not your Father's AMG!

10K 911 SC...
Put about another $40k into it and you will have a car that will smoke a GT3.
If you don't believe me check out the newest article Pete wrote in Excellence about the Toyo Cup series. These cars were running faster lap times than Overbeck ( Factory Driver ) was in a new GT RS....

A used C5 Z06 might be the best bang for the buck that exists for a track car. A C6 Z06 will certainly run with an RS, and a C5 will with just a few mods. Heck, a normal C6 with a few mods will.

The BMWs also make good track rats, but their performance cannot keep up with the Vettes or the RS.

cup car is very nice. but my opinion is that they are too fast for DE. you will hit traffic all the time. now RS is hampered by traffic too, but at least you cannot corner as fast as cup, and you get to drive it on street.
Z06: some say the break down a llot. but i have never yet see and C6z06 break down on track when i am there. well driven, it is as fast if not faster than RS. need some work: shox and brakes at the min. i do not know their durability however.

When I was waiting for my GT3 (long story) I was that close to buying a Lotus Exige S.
The Exige S is an excellent track toy, and many owners I know drive theirs daily (some trade off for practicality, but bearable). For its price, it is very attractive. Just to make sure we are physically fit to get in and out of the car (but sitting inside is actually quite comfy.)
With best regards,

YA911- I got mine for 7500 UNDER INVOICE but in the end it ended up being closer to 9500.
He wiped out the down payment of 1500 which put it at 9K under invoice
then he got me some wheels for only exchange and that was another 500 in my favor
there are dealer incentives of7500 right now. Yes they miscacluated the market
Rog I think they weigh 3100 pounds.
