The 997 GT3/RS..."Legit Super-Car" or not?...

Some say Supercardom requires 600+ bhp and exotic styling, and by this yardstick even the 997 GT2 does not quite qualify.
But the 911 GT2/3/RS is the ultimate sports car for true enthusiasts.

I agree completely. Supercar to me means limited production, limited availability, high desirability, exotic styling, and genre-defying performance. A 911 variant may fill some - or all - of these categories for you, but they really don't for me. The only 911s that come close by my defintion are 959 and 997GT2.
Porsche's only really built one supercar, CGT. Maybe 911 GT1. Ferrari has built several - F40, F50 (really underrated, I think), Enzo. Lamborghinis don't really appeal to me. It's a rarefied place, supercardom.

IMHO, a car needs to be sub-4 sec 0-60, AND 200+ top speed, AND carry 1+g lateral acceleration to qualify as a supercar. If that's the case, the GT3/RS won't make it. I know it is simplistic, but those are some mighty tough barriers to breach in cardom. It's hard just to make one of those, let alone all three.
Just my 2 cents.

By any standard the 959 is a supercar and was 10-20 years ahead of its time and it qualifies in every category of judging that you have listed above.

Numbers are a qualifier, had an e60 M5 capable of 205mph etc. but it felt boring and isolated under 100mph.
The most tangible thing with P cars is the overall package these cars are exciting to drive around town at school zone speeds as well as the track, it's never been about straight line performance. therefore they hold your interest longer imo than a super high hp car.

u mean the atom?
i drove it on hwy 35 and 9, rather recklessly i might add (duck).
but i just dont feel safe and too much wind buffetting. if you dont have helmet on, you can't open your eyes.
radical on the other hand, i felt very safe in it.
