Any news about the next GT3/RS ?
I got some info about the new GT3/RS.
Unlike the RSR, the engine won't be a 3.8.
They gonna add DFI and increase around 20HP and that's it.
They will keep the 3.8 for 998.

The whole 911 range gets a facelift soon. And PDK should appear too. And almost certainly DFI which should increase both tq and hp by better than 10%. For the GT3, the questions remain - when (2009, 2010...) and 3.6 or 3.8L?

If you want to drive an automatic, buy a Tiptronic, the PDK is an idea past its time. The future is 'seamless shifting'. Go trya an Audi with a double clutch or a Veyron and decide if you like it. Spacewise its terrible, and makes it harder to locate the gearbox as low as one would want to locate it.

Nope
CVT is utterly horrible, DAFs used to have that, and some Audis now do. Best thing about it is that the chain looks like a watch strap.
Seamless shifting aka Zeroshift was being developed for road cars and then F1 grabbed the technology.

From what I heard is 3.8 engine and MY09.
So I guess MY09 is the year for the whole 911 line face-lift and DFI, including the GT's.

I think that the combination of the way the GT3 handles and the DSG for left-foot braking may be a very satisfying drive.
I think the 998 will be a V8.
To 340Elise: I don't think the SMG II/III are junk. Most who buy them are mostly used to Mercedes... I think it was a mistake to ignore the demographic of the new M5 buyers. Also, the DSG in GTI will not allow you to redline.

I drove a M6 this last weekend before I bought my wife her Z4 M and it had the SMG box
I DID NOT like at all! I kept lurching forward when I thought the car was going to
shift. It never shifted when I thought it would
BIG disappointment.

Besides, you should've tried mode 4 or up for the very-first time and also having an experience salesperson helps.
In my opinion, SMG has about 100hours of seat-time to get used to.
