Default Hi Everybody, new to the board, new toy...

Hi Guys,

I ordered a 2008 GT3 over the summer, but unfortunately, I got bumped out of my allocation. However, my dealer had one of the customers trade in a GT3 for a turbo, so I jumped on the opportunity. The car is almost as the one that I speced out, and the price was right. So after receiving the phone call last night, it didnt take me long to decide to get it. My other cars are a 2007 BMW 530XiT and a 1988 BMW M3. I'll probably end up selling the M3 to make room for the new car. I used to race in the BMWCCA CR series and still hold several lap records there for my class. A brief foray into Grand Am cup didnt work out financially, but I never regretted the expirience...

Its my first Pcar and what a way to start. The car is at the dealer right now, but since I am travelling in eastern Europe, I wont get at it till mid-november, come on global warming, dont fail me now! A friend dropped by the dealer and shot these pics yesterday.

Cheers,

Chris

I cant wait to drive it!

Congrats! She is gorgeous.

You just missed our NY Tri-State drive as there were a few of your fellow 7GT3ers that represented. Hopefully you can join us for the Spring one.

Some pics here if interested

Enjoy the car!

Congratulations...

What a coincidence. You got bumped out of your allocation, and all of a sudden somebody traded a 997 GT3 similar to what you would have ordered for a 997 Turbo.

Probably the 997 GT3 is too raw for some people.

Thanks,

The previous owner said the car was "too much" for him. As far as the coincidence....well I dont know. Either or, I am happy with the car and the deal I got so I wont be dwelling too much on that. For the record, the dealership has been nothing short of excellent, so I dont suspect foul play... I know they could have put the car on ebay and gotten more for it...

Thanks again guys...

Speedgeek,

I didnt take the pictures, a friend did. If I recall correctly, he is shooting with a Canon 20D, with both the 24-70L and the 14L.

Welcome Zed and good luck with it... its your good karma...

I cannot understand why some will feel the car is too much for them - that is if they like to push a little when they drive...

Arrwin and Bob's drive this past weekend was this first time I drove my 07 GT3 hard ( for me anyway ). the freaking car is insane. It just hugs the road like mad and gives me confidence with every sharp turn.

I almost got broad sided when I came out of a gas station making a left... with just reflex I jerked the wheel to the right and gave it some gas (heard the tires chirp 3 times )... off I went and avoided an accident... I don't think I could of done that in many street cars out there...

Enjoy you need ride... cause you are going to love it...

I have a 20D - it's awesome. But I don't have L-series lenses. They are exceptional (with prices to match). Sorry for the thread-jacking. Enjoy your car.

Dont worry, photography is the one thing I take more seriously than my driving!

L glass is a better investment than a good body imho as the technology is evolving at a much slower rate. Personally, I have the 24-70L, 70-200L, and the 16-35L II (my personal favorite)

Here is a shot I got at last January's winterfest....

Sorry for the bad color, I have a better version on my better computer back in NYC.

Great shot - nice panning.

I really need to invest in some good glass. The only decent lens I have is an EF 70-300 IS USM. Not L quality but close, and much cheaper and lighter. But I'm using the garbage kit lens that came with the camera for shorter focal length pics, and it's pretty hopeless.

check out my website: http://www.warrengore.com

And be sure to click the "TerraGalleria" link for some truly remarkable large-format photography.
