Default CF Seats for GT3RS

I am thinking about switching out to the factory 997 GT3RS CF seats. It appears that there are least two versions: fabric and leather/alcantara. Does anyone know if the non-US Spec GT3RS was delivered with fabric CF seats only (as opposed to leather/alcantara)? All factory pictures of the RS appear to show fabric only, and the UK and German order guides seem to indicate that the leather/alcantara version of the CF seats are available only with GT3s (and not GT3RSs) if the CF seat option (option P02) was elected but the Clubsport package (option 003) was not elected. Part numbers for the fabric seats are 997-521-401-01 and 997-521-402-01, I believe. Apologies if a re-post.

Yes, I can confirm that there are two versions of the CF seats: fabric and leather/Alcantara. I have been trying to get leather/Alcantara seats for my RS to arrive here in Singapore in December. Unfortunetly, I was told that the RS comes only with fabric CF seats in conjunction with the standard CS package. For the GT3 its a different story as you mentioned correctly.

Thanks much. I have read through the GT3RS brochure, non-US ordering guides, PAG press releases and looked at various pics in foreign car mags (e.g., GT Purely Porsche, Porsche 911 World, Auto Motor und Sport, etc.), and for what it is worth, it appears that the all fabric version is the correct version for the RS.

The fabric version is standard on CS/RS. The leather version is intended to be a comfort version.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but in making the seat conversion, do I need to replace/substitute the existing seat rails with a new part? I know I need the adapter set, but not sure about the seat rails. Thanks

if you buy the seat from an experience vendor, they should order all the brackets and rails. you just plop the seat in and bolt t hem down. if it takes you more than 15 min per seat, something is not right.

What about removing the seats, aside from unbolting it? What type of electronic wiring/harnesses do you need to contend with?

I am having a set delivered on Monday. I think the new seats come with their own brackets/sliders. I was just inquiring as to disconnecting any wiring harness for the airbags and recling mechanisms on the stock sport seats.

Mine were just delivered. The seats don't come with their own brackets or sliders (they need to be ordered separately). But on the bottom of the shells there is a yellow "box" -- it looks as if something gets plugged into that box (perhaps the wiring for airbags and reclining mechanisms)?
