Does it fit? What's it cost? What's the weight savings.

I'm trying to pull weight off of the GT3 while sticking pretty close to stock. Shoulda gone with the ceramic brakes.

You sure about that? For the same money, you can replace those heavy wheels AND get steel discs with aluminum hats AND you're still be ahead AND don't have to worry about the inherent problem with ceramics (i.e., chiping, high replacement cost, etc...) AND you'll probably end up with the same unsprung weight savings.

...which is why I'm asking about trying to get weight off intelligently. Which wheels are favorites for getting weight down (for getting to the track and driving one the track)? How about the aluminum hats?

I imagine most people will suggest CCW wheels.

My PCCB have served me well. Stay on the track surface and they will last and save weight. Fiske or BBS are great wheels. The hood will fit but it is $$$. Euro seats save a lot of weight. Austin is a great resource.

That's a good discussion on CCW wheels along with some weights.

Volks are also a good choice if weight savings is a concern:

you can make big weight savings by switching to lightweight seats. Th en there are lightweight doors, Ti bolts, magnesium wheels, lightweight exhaust. Have you checked what the weight saving is by switching to the cf bonnet, not great, I think you will find.
You can always remove the carpet and paint the interior. But the seats weigh a lot.

Had done this on my 996 GT3, saved almost 20 pounds. The new hood is so light you need new lighter weighted struts to prop the hood up. OEM part was around 3000. another 500 for great paint and fitment.

Aftermarket parts will be cheaper, but fitment/etc may not be as perfect as an OEM part.

My 996 RS hood is carbon and it is almost unbelievably light. The 997 GT3 and RS hoods are both aluminum.

The best part is when people ask about the sticker for a crest, instead of the usual metal/ceramic/etc item. They just don't get it

Show your commitment to the cause: Cut off the entire roof and replace with an oe non-sunroof piece. Save about 40 lbs.....all over your head.
