I think they just did the comparison so that the video looks cool. Some nice sliding in it.
Even a moron can figure out that one is not a direct substitute for the other.
The M3 can very well serve as the only car for a person or even a small family if they live in an urban area. The GT3 can be one's only car only if you are willing to use public transport a lot and rent or borrow cars that can actually carry more than just one purse.
Now they need to release the sedan version of the M3 (or maybe even a wagon) and I am running to the dealer.

Nice. My German's kinda rusty. Did the commentator say that although the M3 offered more creature comforts, it still fell short when compared with the performance of the GT3? :-)
