nice job.
i understand why youd pick a 3 vs tt but might be easier and more importantly safer to take a tt and put a 3 bumper on it than what you did.
just a thought

BTW, it's more than the front bumper from the TT I would replace...it's the TT's wheels, spoiler, and rear bumper (all of which seemed to be designed as an afterthought IMO. Then "while I'm at it", I'll have to increase the boost, exhaust, suspension, etc (because I can on the TT The 3 is pretty much maxed out).
Heck, that's what happened to my 930. The performance bug bit me hard.
Seriously though. I will be welding on the factory back seat rest when I find the part #. Then it would be just as safe as a TT or a standard 997 because of the use of factory parts and mount points.

which Recaro? I have a Recaro Young Sport that didn't fit in the back of either the 996 or the 997.

You'll also need the following parts in addition to the seat belts and associated hardware (shown in photo on first post):
997 551 526 00 01C (seat-belt buckle cover R)
997 551 525 00 01C (seat-belt buckle cover L)
996 555 545 01 A03 (C-Pillar seat-belt loop cover L)
996 555 546 01 A03 (C-Pillar seat-belt loop cover R)
997 551 526 00 01C (seat-belt buckle cover R)
997 551 525 00 01C (seat-belt buckle cover L)
996 555 545 01 A03 (C-Pillar seat-belt loop cover L)

Simple. Get a cheaper car to drive with the kids. For the price difference between a GT3 and a TT you can find plenty of fine automobiles. You could also go shopping in that car. The GT3 is fairly useless in shopping for almost anything except maybe watches. Even then you would probably get a bad deal if the shopkeeper saw you drive up in the GT3.

I get all my watches in Chinatown, NY.

Great thread. Thanks for doing the research. If I knew I could do this I would have had a GT3 this month already instead of sticking with my 997S. I agree with you on the 997TT so I guess I'll wait for the facelifted GT3 and then add a baby seat.

question on the mounting point
Looking at the pics, there is no pre-threaded hole to anchor the seat belt on the bottom. It does look like there is a reinforced point for you to drill a hole. Did you have to drill a hole and then weld a nut behind to anchor the bolt?
OK...No legal bashing please. Sometimes, it's just nice to be able to take the whole family out for a nice cruise down the Coast. Sure, I could have gotten a Turbo, but they are totally different cars. Heck, I can just take the whole family out in my Prius. But that's not the point.
Anyways, these are all OEM parts using OEM mount points. As you can see, all I need to do is throw in a booster seat and using the 3-point harness, they should be in securely.
I'm still trying to see if there's a way to put the back seat rest in. It's an easy job, but the gotcha is the latch point. It should mount to a welded piece on the wheel well on a 997, but that piece does not exist on the GT3. Still trying to source the part #.
The last pic are most of the parts you need. You will also want to replace solid piece in the C pillar where the seat belt loops through. There's a lot of panels you have to take apart to get to the C panel. Having the workshop manual really helped.

Now the seat back is a different story. There's a piece that needs to be either welded or bolted (997s and TTs have them already) so you can mount the seat back stay. I'm still trying to find this part # (second pic).
So for now, I just put the boosters on the carpets and secure them in with the 3-point stock seat belts.
