Steel discs to replace new PCCB?
Is anyone aware of steel rotors to replace the new 380mm front and 350mm rear PCCB rotors on the 997 GT3?
I am just curious right now.
I had the "green" fade happen this week on my PCCB's and I can't seem to fall in love with the feel of the PCCB on track. (Pedal went to the floor at 150+mph at VIR on the back straight - not very confidence inspiring! I bled them and they seem to be okay now). But I seem to get into the ABS much quicker than in my 996 with steels. I actually rarely if ever got into ABS in my 996 GT3. Maybe I just need to adjust my technique. But I am so used to the steels on my old 996 GT3 and now on the 996 Cup.
(One thing is for sure - the RS is no cup car!!!)

Matt,
Paul at Protosport (973 839 5353) is putting a kit together to replace the ceramic rotors. The steel rotors that come with it are one piece and slotted. They last a very long time. My first set lasted 24 days. I am on my second set now. They retail for $350 I believe. Other people that use them seem to like them as well.

Notice I said "I may have to adjust my technique"?
It always amazes me how guys can come on here and comment on someones abilities without even knowing who they are talking to. I didn't ask for advice on my braking. I asked if anyone had a steel brake rotor to replace the PCCB. You always seem to offer advice when people didn't ask. I would love to get out on track with you so you could teach me.

Anyway, the pedal went to the floor after one lap. I wouldn't think the fluid would overheat that quickly, even without a braking lesson from BobbyC.

Stephan and Mooty:
Thanks for the source. I will call him next week.
What pads are you running with the steels? I used to run Pagid RS14 on the rear and RS19 on the front of my 996 GT3 and thats what I have on the Cup car now too. But with the 997 having more rear bias, I don't know if that will work too well.

matt, something is way wrong if your pedal goes to floor in one lap, more than just green fade. i had my tech cycled through abs when i replaced the fluid upon pick up.
i run RS29 all around. was told by TRG, that unlike 6gt3, you dont need to stagger the pads front/rear.

Matt,
I run RS29 all around. I love it. Itryed the 14 but did not like it as much. Ryan runs RS14 front and back and is very happy with it. I guess you have to try them. My 14s did not last that long.
Are you going to be at VIR with first settlers? If so we will see you there.

Matt, you can also try the Porsche MotorSports iron rotors from the 997 GT3 Cup. I have no idea on their price.
Other than braking issues, how did your lap times compare to the 996 GT3? It would be interesting to read your impressions given that you have driven the 996 GT3, 996 GT3 Cup, 997 GT3 and 997 GT3 RS at the longest road course available in U.S.A.

I think the rears do and the fronts don't (or vice versa) Jim Bacus is doing just this change right now. PM him.
I had mine go to the floor once. Came right back with pumping and praying.
Went straight to the rack, new fluid etc. and has been rocksolid since.

Arlan Motorsport in California told me that Performance Friction Brakes has a steel rotor kit to replace the PCCB. See www.arlanmotorsport.com or www.performancefriction.com.
