Default Which roll bar did you put into your 997 GT3?

now that I have the factory orange rear cage going into the RS; it is only fair that the white GT3 gets its own color matching bar as well, right?

I recall that the RS bar can be "made to fit" the base 3 but am hesitant to start F'ing around with cutting one up, so what did you put in yours if you did?...include pics if you can

So far at our events, I've seen 996 tech bar (fitted nicely) and the new 997 tech bar.

On second thought the 996 bar was in an RS. Not sure if it would fit the 7GT3 with the sunroof and all.....

Safety Devices
Requires plates be welded
With a white exterior and black interior, I think a black bar is the best choice personally

I have a DAS bar painted black. Have not installed yet. My friend did the same in white and it looks good. Both cars are 997 GT3 white/black. Will post pictures when done if no one else has.

I have a DAS bar from a 996 which fits fine and does not require cutting or welding.

I put the GMG Racing GT Cup roll bar into my 997 GT3. It came standard with a semi-gloss powder coat black finish, but just about any color can be ordered. The bar is of very high quality and is finished beautifully.

the DAS bar ties into the shock tower and sills and appears to be funtional and PCA club racing approved....the GMG bar looks nice but appears to be more a cosmetic addition than functional in design.

Any opinions?

Norm,
We'll get together this weekend, let me know what you are up to. I am post call Saturday, and have Sunday off. I have the RS Cage in the GT3, first one that I know of done; done about 6 months ago, maybe more at this point. Let me know, call me...

I agree. The DAS sport bar is made of substantially larger tubing and does tie to the shock towers in the back. However, I chose the GMG bar because its a whole lot more "street friendly", but still satisfies the requirements for POC and PCA time trials. If you are going club racing, then the DAS sport bar would be great, if you would prefer it over the RS factory bar. It all depends on the planned use for your car.

I also bought the GMG bar. The workmanship and finish are very handsome.

Das Bar does not have a cross bar since it's tied to the rear strut so i belive it's even more street friendly if your thinking of putting stuff in the back. Plus compare to the tech bar the harness bar sits lower and doesn't hamper in car video. Regards. Mike

Default RS Bar

I put in the RS Bar. Vortex Motorsports, previously DWR Motorsports, Previously Dave White Racing (just giving them a hard time) installed it for me. They removed 1 1/4 inches and did a very nice job. It is poweder coated black krinkle. They made the plates too. I believe Viper Bob has the plates for sale and he is a site sponsor.

Not true. The dasSport and I am sure others offer a good degree of protection, albeit not as good as a full cage.
