Cobalt Blue GT 3
Having exhausted my last hope for a Gulf Blue GT 3 ( you would not believe how many emails and phone calls have gone out on this )I am wondering if anyone has seen a Cobalt Blue 997 GT 3 or, even better, might have some images of one that they could either post here or PM to me.
As an aside, this is the second time that I have approached Porsches' "Personalization" program and I have been summarily refused both times. This time, they did not even have the courtesy to contact me directly; I was advised of their decision by my dealer even though it was I who had written the letters. They proudly proclaim a willingness to do whatever one might wish to make your Porsche uniquely yours. Perhaps they need to tone down their promotional rhetoric or rethink the direction this program has taken.

This may not make you feel any better, but I have bought several Porsches using the "Personalization" service. I also tried to get a GT3 in Gulf Blue and failed. However, I did get a resonable explanation. Porsche has many suppliers who supply parts for the cars. Many of those parts are painted by the supplier. Some of those suppliers, either because of technology or the substrate used for the part cannot match all colors to Porsche's standards. This is especially true of the lighter shades and non-metallic colors. I know I would be very upset if I got a Gulf Blue car and found that the body, bumpers and door handles were all different shades.
That is why Porsche will not accept orders for certain colors.

RTP356,
This is among the reasons I have heard as well, but then how is it that they have been able to paint 997 Turbos, Carreras, Caymans and Carrera GTs in this color. All of these cars have a mix of surface materials which is similar to that of the GT 3, although the Carrera GT may get a pass here, and there seems to have been no problems. I believe that while we both have been told the same story, the truth lies elsewhere and that, sadly, Porsches' "personalization" program is merely a hollow and disingenuous marketing ploy in my experience.
That said, The 997 GT 3 is a truly wonderful automobile and I am certain that I will thoroughly enjoy mine, what ever color it may end up being...probably Cobalt which is ultimately a none too bitter pill.

I ordered my GT3 in cobalt blue ... (as mentioned above) it is a truly stunning color (especially with PCCB yellow calipers, speed yellow belts, and center console in exterior color too) ...
I'd highly recommend it ... seems like there are at least 4-5 cars in the US so far in that color
I have a unch of pictures of it on the nordschleife which were professionally taken during it's
euro delivery shakeout (180mph on the autobahn, and 50 laps of the ring)

How about BMW's Estoriel Blue? On the USA website, they show one in that color (a C2 with the aero kit). I always thought that was a beautiful shade of blue. Of course I don't know if it is BMW's color, I just know I had it on my '97 E36 M3. I also know that BMW's space grey mettalic is exactly the same color as Porsche's Seal Greay (and I mean exactly)!
