Took my front bumper off recently and wanted to update the steps for removal. You dont need to remove the wheel or remove the bolts on the fender liner to access the screw behind the fender liner. I popped the side marker lights out, reached in and pushed the fender liner forward and was able to access the screw no problem. Just turned the wheel to one side to make it easy clearance.

I am trying to remove the front bumper and cant get these clips out. Any pointers? I tried the coat hanger, but they are really snug and by the looks of it, secured pretty tightly.

Wow .. 10yrs since I did this. If I recall.. you have to hook the hanger end onto the holes. Make sure the hanger is long enough ~ 8” so you have some leverage to pull. That bracket just pulls out and releases the bumper 😝

Yeah, you just have to pull harder. I pulled my front bumper to put screens in also. I too was surprised how hard you had to pull to get those clips out. I think in theory they are just supposed to slide out a couple inches, but on one side mine came completely out. Not a big deal, just slid it back in before putting the front bumper back in.

Update: Never mind, got it. Just disconnected turn signal assembly instead.

This was a great write up. Thanks for letting me revive this thread

One more question. Does the electrical connector behind/under the passenger headlight need to be disconnected? I didnt remove the wheel and it is a little hard to get to, but I feel like there has to be an easier way.

i already got the bumper off, disconnected washer hoses, etc., and this is now the final step.

It was a while ago that I did this project, but I do recall ulplugging the connector. Also, I did not pull out my fender liners.

Cleaned up the wheel wells while I was at it...

Thanks to this thread, I was able to remove the front bumper on my '07 C2 to install mesh screens. I didn't remove the wheels, just turned them to full lock (need to put key in ignition to unlock the steering column lock to do that). I can confirm the screw behind the side marker hole doesn't need to be removed, that's just for the guide bracket. If I did it again it would take much less time. One tip that applies to all DIY's like this is to put a piece of blue painter tape next to each screw that you remove and write the bit size (T25, T30, etc) on it for help reinstalling.

Remove with a thin, narrow, soft surfaced pry tool. I use my fingernails. My tow hook cover is still attached with its long flexible part so it can be turned sideways and stowed behind the opening when the tow hook is installed. Reinstall by pulling it out and orienting properly to be pushed back into location.
