Default What helmet do you guys like for the track?

Can you guys give me a few recommendations for a first helmet? I'll be taking my RS on the track regularly in a few months. Will want to use it for PCA events.

Arai makes some nice helmets...not as light as carbon fibre but lighter on your wallet...jsut make sure you get one Hans compatible if you are going to use a Hans Device...many sellers will install the Hans posts for you...have a fun and safe time at the track...

What certification does your helmet need for PCA events?

Snell 2005 for competition events...for DE can be current Snell or one previous, which I think is Snell 2002. BTW this could vary from region to region so you best check with the PCA region sponsoring the event

Arai GP5-K

Best to try any helmet on in person - you may have a weird shaped head and not know it

I find that the varrious brands all fit very differently, The Arai fits me best with a fairly oblong shaped head, some of the other brands are much rounder. So, get what fits and feels right...in person, try on lots of brands.

There is no one best brand of helmet because the most important attribute of a helmet is whether it fits your head snugly and is comfortable. Buy from a store that carries several brands and will help you buy a helmet that fits your head.

This is the only advice that makes sense.

Good advice above. They all fit different. Also, spend the extra couple of hundred and get a "lightweight" version of whatever brand fits best. Makes a big difference.

Don't overlook European Helmets with the BSI Certification (finally approved by PCA!). The BSI standard is the one used by the FIA. I like the Stilo with the built in headset and microphone.
