I don't know about UK but here in Canada, I've had my TPMS turnd off because it was totally inaccurate and gave warning messages even when the tyre pressures were set correctly from cold.
My dealer disconnected the module first and then eliminated the TPMS from the options menu.

I think part (just a small part) of the problem might be that the system really monitors pressure in bar, rather than psi. If it measures to the nearest 0.1bar then that's 1.5psi, so it can't really distinguish differences as close as 1psi, so sometimes it shows it up to 1psi adrift even when it's been very accurately set.

Can't you sink them yourselves with the onboard menu? I think you drive a bit and the car finds the new ones.
