So, it's roughly $85k more than a GT3? I guess those turbochargers are pretty valuable

I'd love to have one though...

Since there is no GT2RS, Porsche doesn't need to play games and charge 20% more for sunroof delete

I think there is no RS version of the GT2 needed. Each iteration of the GT2 (993, 996 and now 997) is already as hardcore as any RS version made of the 993 RS, 996 GT3 RS and 997 GT3 RS.

For the 997 GT2, I was expecting the 997 suspension geometry improvements, more low end torque, a TC button and obviously the old 911 look found on the 997. Porsche is making it even better, the lightweight seats (not available in the US RS), a lightweight exhaust, aluminum doors, new generation PCCB, 325 rear tires.

I hope it does not have that hole up top.

Pricing is indeed out of whack compared to the rest of the lineup. I realize a precedent has been set with the 996GT2, but even with limited production and a hard core reputation look at what a depreciation disaster that was. By pricing the 997GT2 ~$70k above the Turbo and GT3RS, I don't see how it will fare any differently. $160k is more realistic, IMO.

Are those parking sensors I see in the rear shot??? I didn't think you could get that on the GT cars. I certainly didn't see it as an option on the Canadian GT3 options guide.

Your pricing expectations take no account of currency fluctuations, first item on the news this morning was further weakening of the USD. Sure PAG has been very successful in its hedging operations, but at some stage they are going to run out of punters who are willing to offer hedges. The logical answer is to set up manufacturing operations in the US so expensive German labour can be replaced with cheap American labor (was there ever such an expensive 'U', or even a U-turn).

A benefit of this would be to make factory delivery much more affordable. In fact they could offer US factory delivery free and charge customers to pick the cars up from the dealers.

Says who?

I don't see why they wouldn't offer them in the US. Unlike the Euro GT3RS seats, these fold & have the thorax airbag inside.

Some people need warning lights to tell them to change gear, others need beepers to tell them to pull over when a car is trying to overtake them.....

in fact you could very easily organise this so that if the beepers go off whilst in one of the forward gears, you turn on overboost. Whilst you are at it, make flames come out the back.

Its not the price that is stupid, it's the exchange rate that is stupid.

During the time the Euro has been in use, the balance has swung. A US purchaser used to be able to buy a € 100,000 car for $ 80,000 now it is $ 138,000. That's an increase of $58,000 or 72.5%. Get the American Dollar to appreciate and the prices of cars will come back.

My "pricing expectations" are based on the prices of the rest of the 997 model range...are you suggesting that Porsche is pricing the GT2 out of line to cover the company's currency fluctuations? They'd be a lot better off raising the price an additional $500 on the 20,000 other sports cars they sell here rather than charging $30k over market value for 200 GT2s...
