RS or GT 2 ??

The RS is one of the sexiest cars on the road, ever. It looks like you're in Ontario; if you're in the GTA area, check out Chris Pfaff's orange RS, it looks amazing in real life. Pictures don't do this car justice.
When I first thought about the GT3 vs. RS debate, I didn't think the RS was worth it, but you can't put a price on the emotions a car gives you and in that regard, the RS is well worth it. Unfortunately, the pricing has gone so crazy that even my emotional side can't justify the current price difference.
To answer your question, given the current speculative information about the GT2, I would go for an RS. What makes the GT3/RS special is the high revving engine. If the GT2 were to use a special high-rev turbo engine, it would be my choice, but as long as they keep it as a hot-rod version of the regular turbo, I think the pricing strategy is a bit optimistic.
Let us know if you get one, it would be great to see an RS on the roads around here!

If the GT2 is obtainable at MSRP, I'm sure quite a few would be cross shopping it against the 'market price' of the RS.
However, I'm quite sure that the limited production of the GT2 would push prices up, at least within the first few months to a year that it was available.
The last GT2 was considered a commercial failure, the depreciation was staggering, but it was a Monster!

If the 7GT2 is 3200lbs wet and 550hp/550tq coupled with the suspension and chassis development of the 7RS, then I think it'll be a winner.

Easy GT2. Right now I think if you have any pull with your dealer and youre smart- you go in and get a car at MSRP which I heard was 189+options- so that would be as much or less than the $210k for example dealers are asking for an RS right now. See 6speed online and Manhattan motor car thread.

I've never been interested in the GT2. I like the raw naturally aspirated power of the regular GT3. It is so well balanced and is a vey reasonable price for the non RS version. I always thought that the GT2 was not nearly as popular and that it depreciated like crazy. The GT3 just seems so right; like the perfect car. More power is not always better; especially if it is FI power. However, if I could get the RS at MSRP, then that would be my ultimate choice; and that is mainly for the sunroof delete and the cool colors and graphics!
I think when the GT2 comes out, I will read the article, and I will no doubt be impressed; but then move on to my GT3 and grin from ear to ear.

GT2 without question. And I've owned a Stradale and a GT3 RS.
And btw, on a percentage basis GT2s haven't depreciated more than GT3s - they are basically on par. The 997 GT2 will no doubt depreciate but it should fare a little better since Porsche is producing fewer of them than the 996 version.
