Default Yet another clear bra question

If clear bra is applied to certain body panel on a car and left on for an extended period of time, when removed, will the paint be a different color than panels that weren't covered? Over time it would the paint finish would obviously be different on the noncovered parts compared to the covered. It would seem possible that the paint may minorly discolor differently too.

Short answer...No

I just replaced the (3M) film on my '02 Turbo.
Was installed 11/01 and removed 6/07 with no issue
Paint underneath was perfect...no chips, fading or issues whatsoever

Was replaced with Avery film, which looks much better.

^+1 No actual experience, but that's what the dealer and the installer (Accu Guard) claim and guarantee.

Skip the Saran wrap!

The few rock chips you'll get can easily be repaired and a properly maintained "naked" Porsche looks much better and less poseur-ish, imo.

No it will not. UVs will penetrate the film allowing it to fade at teh same rate.

If you use a paint sealant on your paint, can you put the same stuff on the clear bra so as to prevent unequal discoloration?

this is a tricky question without knowing what brand of clear plastic is being applied. Some cheap plastics can and will allow fading at differant rates. while the high quality ones have proven that they work and work well

True. You drive infinitely more track miles than I do, for instance.

Also, it depends on what you drive. I think I'd have to grit my teeth and accept the plastic wrap on a Lotus, even without any track intentions!

you got lotus too?
if so, clear bra on the sill area is useless, you need to have tape over the clear bra. my exige looks like it went through a tour of iraq. multiple penetration of the film at sill area.

Not yet -- still hoping for a factory SC'd Elise!

But I know how fragile the bodywork and paintwork is...
