Apparently my attempt to lighten things up a bit went over a few heads. I appreciated the Thurston Howell III reference, and responded in kind in a "Airplane" moment. (Jimmy, have you ever seen a grown man naked)..... That's all....

Why cant we all just get along?

80 - 120 hours is common for these cars. No new cup cars are sold at dealers.

If you live in Savannah then you should be familiar with Roebling. Only a few laps would show you that a cup car is a world apart from a 997 GT3 street (RS or not)

Have you had your RS on the track yet?

Just the 996 so far. RS is up next when I get back from a euro trip. Been to Roebling 2x. It would be awesome to drive both and see/feel the differences. BTW when you do have to rebuild, how much does it generally cost?

No Prob ZBB!! no reason for us guys who all share a passion to get all wrapped around the axle for nuthin. JRs got a beautiful Cup Car and GBGT hopefully can get a nice 997 example.
I think Fabryce has some and I saw his cars at Long Beach- They are beautiful examples and I think he can offer support on any Cup he sells.

Porsche Motorsports rebuilds of running motors generally run between $25k-$28k. They can get pricier quickly if you've had major damage ie: cracked head, crank, block, etc. My running mate had our mechanis build a complete new motor earlier this year with an 05' block, heads, velve train, etc. They had to go to Europe for the parts since Motorsports won't sell them locally. His costs totaled around $35k from our mechanic here in LA- Werks II. That motor is ****!
Mine was rebuilt by EPE in the Boston area right before I bought it and it ran about $20k. He did a great job, I've got about 55 hours with 1-2 % leakdown all around. I strongly recommend his serivices for those in that area....

Thanks Old Guy. I meant what I said, all of your answers have been extremely helpful. I was just curious of what the availability of cup cars is, and I definitly know who resources are now.
