FWIW, it looks like you gave up on the corner before you reached the apex. You may have been going faster than you had on previous attempts, so you lifted before the turn and were coasting. The turn looks to be off camber, and the rear stepped out a little. You do a shuffel stear which does not allow you to respond quick enough after the initial correction. You find yourself way left and then correct hard right (at this point you may have added some brake). The tires bite and you are heading for the wall. You may have had a moment to lock it up and slide down track, but it was only a moment.

Anyway, I may have it all wrong, but that is what it looks like here in NJ. Sorry about you car. I have been there before!

Thats looks like Magic Mountain at Buttonwillow, what happens there alot is people lift and with uphill the rear end unweights and spin. I think a couple years ago 2 men lost their lives there on the
LUNCHTIME laps in a Healy with no bar and no helmets.
thank God you are OK

IMHO in both passes from your video you do the same mistake. You lift almost mid corner at the transition of the combination where its most critical to have grip. That unloads the rear which carries the most weight so when you have to change direction mid corner the rear end has no grip, hence the accident... It is critical that the rear end is loaded at the limit on fast sweepers and corners like the Eau Rouge. I have been at the track and the uphill transition that you lost the car require for sure throttle in my opinion so a safer way would have been to slow down before the up hill and be on throttle there after.
I'm glad you are ok, cars can be replaced...

don't worry I'm ok... ( a miracle ? )
my car is still in Belgium, I think I'll see her back this week ....
a nightmare ...

it was the 4th gear at about 6000 rpm >>> very fast ( 190 /200 km/h )
Hey gatman, Certainly glad you're OK! Did you roll the car or was it a lot of spins? There was such commotion on the video I couldn't tell. You got bigger ***** than me. I'd never have the guts to go all out in any of my cars... especially on a track! Stay safe! Magwheel

Glad your ok!
Looks like you had on just the 3pt belt. A 5 or 6pt harness and neck restraint would have helped if you didnt have that.

I was totaly shocked, I didn't remember anything, total amnesia since the crash to the evening ... I get out the car totally mechanically, like a zombi !
They said I didn't remember my name, my address .... so they took me along to the hospital ...

Bad luck gatman, I suppose one benefit of the video is that you can at least analyse what went wrong. I still can't remember what happened when I crashed my car...

Hope you get back on the track soon.

It is great that you are OK and we can talk about it. Just go do it again!
The only thing you "might" have lost, is your confidence! Go get it back asap.

You are correct about that, I was there, it was during our Vara Race, both guys were racers as well, one had just brought out his Healy for the weekend, very sad.
