DSG might be an expensive option and have some teething pains too. There must be some reason it's taking so long to get into production.

I hope it's not because they are trying to make manual challenged driver friendly auto mode.

That was a big problem for BMW, what with people buying SMG cars thinking that they bought an automatic, and then complaining that the transmission sucks, when in fact, in manual mode, SMG was just awesome on the track. I most certainly enjoyed it.

Hopefully they will follow the Ferrari Enzo model and make it manual mode only, and not waste R&D on making it drive like a nice automatic.

But what would they do for people who want/need an automatic? Would they still offer the Tip too?

Honestly, who cares?

It's a GT car for crying out loud. Learn to operate the clutch pedal.

What was that quote again in some other thread here? I belive it's something along the line of "tip is for chicks?"

My A-3 Audi has DSG and I love it. You can us auto (with a sport mode) or manual. Only drawback is that at redline, it shifts upward rather than bouncing against the redline.

I can't imagine them offering 3 transmission choices so the DSG is going to have to have an auto mode. And not everyone wants to operate the clutch pedal and some can't due to injury. And sometimes an auto trans is the only way a spouse will approve a P car purchase. I've finally weened mine off that thank goodness.

As far as U.S. consumption is conserned, the RS will only be delivered for 2 years. It will be interesting to see what happens to prices after U.S. deliveries end.
Price on the RS is rising by the minute -- this is the "anti-depreciation" car -- hurry.... buy one while the prices are only outrageous.

Jack I do love the color of your RS. We have similar taste in colors but not cars. I figure the RS will stay in your garage until the next best thing comes along. That my friend is the way to spend your money!

most likely not.
first gen DSG, i predict will blow up after three track sessions LOL.
if it survived that long, the cost to rebuild it will be $$$.

i think RS prices will drop to say $25k by january 2008.
anyone want to buy mine now

DSG is awesome...good news to those who wait if it really happens. We should see many converts from other marques too.

But it shouldnt be made mandatory. Manual gear stick option has to remain. It's the tradition not to be compromised.
