Default Availability changing for 2008?

I got an email from a sales man telling me that Porsche is reducing the number of GT3's they are going to allocate to the US next year.
Has any one heard of this ?
Thanks

105 seems to be the number.

Does anyone know what the "original allocation" was speculated to be for 2008...probably based off 2007 numbers?

i.e. did they really "reduce" it (or was everyone expecting at least 2007 numbers and maybe a bit higher)?

At one point they had talked about no '08's. It's interesting to see that P is creating some hype and exclusivity instead of making a ton of them. I know guy's that thought they'd just hold off to get an '08 and now their chomping at the bit because it doesn't look like they'll get anything.

Just wait til PCNA announces the "one-time bonus allocation to satisfy our disappointed customers" after the dealers have charged tidy premiums for the current 08 allocations!

Jaja Lucky for me I had already placed my order.
Also the dealer that sent me that email was wanting to sell me a black Gt3 with 400 miles on it. Just in case some one is looking for a Black one.
I'm sticking to my order.

When it's just a matter of turning the tap on again I can see how P would be tempted to get creative like that. I've already heard that they'll be making a few "VIP" RS's above and beyond what their currently saying.

+1 on the VIP part. A fellow BMWCCA instructor called PorscheAG a few weeks back and asked if he could have an RS at MSRP. They asked why he should have one. He replied that he's owned 3 P-cars and is a pro racer in the Grand Am series. They said send in your VIN# and resume. AG called him back within 24 hrs. and after verifying the above, they sent him an order sheet. He didn't need to go through a dealer, etc. and as far as we know, it's not one of the allocations AG said they'd send.

+2 on the VIP. I was told I could have one no problem. I think it comes down to they will build as many as they can sell but don't want people to play games with the allocation by buying and flipping.

I met a guy at the track a few weeks back who did the same thing. He now has both a new GT3 and a GT3RS in the garage. A very humble guy, he said that it was worth the try - and that he has owned more than a dozen new Porsches within the decade. Like the story above, Porsche asked him for his VIN#s...

Who keeps track of the VIN # of cars they owned 5 or 10 years ago? Doesn't Porsche keep track of that kind of stuff?

i guess germans done understand asian. none of my cars are reg'd under my name per se. so i guess i would have tough luck if they ever ask for my VIN.

Good points... In actuality, I would assume that the customer cites a close relationship with a local dealer and PCNA would then validate that relationship and add an extra allocation to that dealer.... I do believe the "VIN" question could be used as a "weed out" question for people who hope to buy direct and then flip...

My $0.02 interpretation...
