Z4M Coupe track car for me. BMW is now selling this car to their customers.
Strong contender against the RSR

Seems like a very cool car, but I wonder about support and availability of parts/service... Not to mention, who knows what the car is like to drive? At least with the 911s, we know what to expect on all counts...

i may have seen your atom at TH w/ NCRC back in april. i didn't get a close look at your car but all i can remember is that it had a front and rear wing (don't normally see wings on an atom) and it was FAST.

have you been able to get it street legal in CA?

For track use, one of the things I like most about the Atom, which is never talked about, is the cost. One year ago I spent $850 on a set of Yoko A048 tires for the street & track. Now after 8 track days the rears are nearly worn out, and the fronts will probably last 10 more. The brake pads show nearly no wear at all. It burns about 15 gallons of 91 octane fuel if I drive every session of a track day. If the engine blows, mine's a stock Honda, and lightly used replacements are readily available for a few grand. There aren't many cars that can do similar lap times this cheap.

Does this look different or fun?

Yes, that was probably me. Actually, of the tracks I've been to with it, TH is the worst track for the Atom relative to "normal" cars, because of the Atom's poor aerodynamics. It does much better at Laguna (1:42).

To be honest, I don't think the wings help much, and the main reason I have them is cosmetic. But they do their job (looking good) quite well I think.

Yes, mine is licensed in Calif. The only challenge to that is getting one of 500 (per year) kit car "SB100" smog expemtions. Now that it has that, the car will never have to pass smog, regardless of modifications.

Well, without knowing a few additional things, like whether or not it also had to be driven to the track as an example, I would suggest the Mitsubishi Evo. No status invovled there but, hey, you got the GT3 so you don't need that. Those cars can haul *** by rank amatuers like myself and they offer a level of safety you can't install in the Lotus or the likes.
