Default Ex X51 Owners

I know a few here have gone from the X51 equipped 997S into a 997GT3. I am considering doing the same if I can avoid a divorce.

Looking for feedback between the 2 cars. Is the GT3 a head and shoulders improvement?

I traded my X51 for the GT3. The GT3 is better in many ways, but if you are just talking about the engine:

1. GT3 is still better engine (dry sump GT1-derived and all that), revs up faster.
2. X51 has more torque low to mid-range rpms, but redlines lower at 7400(?) rpm.
3. GT3 engine is very smooth and it howls nicely and sounds better.

In a drag race, I think the GT3 would win, but not by much (at least from my seat of the pants feel). The X51 is pretty stout with a max torque about the same.

i second everything ray said above, i chased and being chased by a X51 997S, on the straight, we are very close. i will eventually pull on his, i suppose he has to upshift while i have a higher redline. but right out of the corner, we are even. i have more exit speed, but his tq comes on faster than my GT3.

ray, is that cobalt blue?

i went from x51 to gt3 and got killed on the tradein.

Anyway, my gfs brother took over my x51 on a sweetheart deal.

We did some test and mid rpm range the x51 pulls on the gt3 - a lot
i was stunned.

in all other tests the gt3 pulls

i love the gt3 car for more than straight line speed.

the car is just so tight.

mooty - yes that is Cobalt.

As for trade-in: Ouch, it is true. You will lose a lot on trade in because the X51 is not worth much on trade. I lost a bunch too - but I HAD TO HAVE the GT3! LOL!

As an all around great sports car, it's really hard to beat the X51 car. The GT3 is just a little over the top cool.

The X51 engine in the 997 looks a lot better than the GT3. I mean, literally, it looks very nice. : )
