As to what makes a GT3 $30k more than a C2S....
how's this for starters:
~$40k for the true dry sump, GT1 derived engine....as opposed to ~$10k for the "integrated dry sump" M97

if i had the money i would get a cup car for track or a pure race car with fire system, 1000lbs springs and cage for track. anything short of that is just a street car that can be track. they are not track cars. i have driven GT3 of all sorts and compared to my brief drive to the cup car, they are NIGHT AND DAY. there is NOTHING similar b/n them, other than they look the same and got motor behind you.
this post is not directly to you per se, but i am just pointing out that we shouldn't be too disappointed about the new gt3 or RS. in today's gov't environment, we are pretty damn lucky to have these cars. sure, i be happier if my RS was 2500lbs, but it isn't. but it is not 3500 lbs either... so i have to compromise.

Well said and right on. These GT3's, past and present, aren't race cars -- just decent (and better than most) track cars right out of the box. If you think differently, you obviously haven't driven a real "race" car. I'll just enjoy my poseur RS.
BTW, what radio -- my Lotus didn't come with no stinkin radio.

two, you cannot find RS at msrp anymore, so if you want one, you cough up some blood.
three, GT3's motor alone is worth 30k over 997S. hey i never said car hobby is rational, otherwise, i would drive an accord like my rational wife.
four, TT may or may not be faster, but an RS is an RS. there are suckers (me) who falls for this crap. help me.
