My friends 7-3 leaked oil on the dealership floor when we went to pick it up. It was a pinched o-ring in the oil tube. No problems since, 1 track weekend.

I don't think break in procedure has anything to do with the RMS leaking issues. It has to do more with design and/or install of these "tricky" seals. high revving engine with tight tolerances - leads me to wonder if F-cars and other high end imports have some engine sealing problems? however, I doubt it.

UPDATE, I posted yesterday that I had a leak at first but then went away. I drove the car today and after dinner went out to take a look with a flashlight. and i had about 3 drops of oil about the size of an eraser head on the floor. I am sitting at 2600 miles. So what is the recommendation. I am under warranty but I hate the thought of cracking the case open. Does anyone know how far they have to tear it down. If it is a rear main don't they have to pull the motor or do they just expose the crank at the clutch and put in a new seal? any suggestions?

The dealer drops the engine and transmission.

It takes a whole day.

For my repair I told them to take their time and picked the car up the next day.

Rear Main Seal: a problem that water cooled porsches have where they develop oil leaks at the seal between the engine and transmission.

About 7 slightly larger than quarter size oil spots between 1600 to 2400 miles.

None, I informed my service advisor about the leak during my first oil change at 2000 miles, they confirmed it and ordered the Cup Car part (service advisor said that's the part on a 07 997 GT3) from Germany.

Repair completed at 2400 miles, one track weekend, now at 4000 miles, no leaks.

Mechanic said it's a pain in the a$$ to install, the seal is installed backwards.

Experienced techs can do the RMS w/o pulling the engine -- they like this type of warranty job since they can beat the "book time". Job still takes the better part of a working day.

rms?

i have heard somewhere before said that 415hp is the max output for this 3.6. maybe thats the reason?

do you guys think they gonna come up with a new engine for the next one, because some current tt owners on other forum said this block is not capable for DFI upgarde.

i doubt it.

My dealer did not pull the engine.. did it in one day. Took the opportunity to install RS LWFW, since the labor was free.

The good thing is that Porsche techs have lots of experience doing these. It's becoming routine...
