i installed some seats in the RS and had thorax air bag, seat belt buckle and AWS turned off. however, i still get the little airbag light on the dash, no chimes, just the glowing red light.

those of you installed aftermkt seats, did you turn AWS, buckles and thorax bag off ? and if so, do you get the red bag warning light?

 

Mooty, what seats did you install. I am getting ready to order mine. I also ordered a 996 DAS roll bar. Any suggestions? Thanks, T.Roy

 

i am cheap. i used my 996gt3 seats.
i may put recaro hans in it if i tracked it more.

Sounds like somebody didn't have the key out while the seats were unplugged. : )

I've had 996 GT3 and Pole Positions in the 997.

Maybe the tech with the PIWIS neglected to follow every menu.

 

Ok, those of you in the know: can you specify the proper procedure for seat swap to eliminate the air-bag problem?

i was there when they did the PIWIS thing.

we did the same on my cayman s. all lights are off
another person did same on cayman s. the airbag light stays on.
my RS air bag light stays on.

do you know the exact sequence of PIWIS operations?
did christian turn off yours?

 

I don't know of any sequence dependencies. I just watched a tech enable an RS during the PDI and it was obviously very easy to skip an item just because the menus are tedious and the PIWIS is insanely slow.

I'm sure Carlsen will clear it up for you -- or did you take to somewhere closer to you?

I had a little brain fade and opened the sunroof while I had both seats out. Damn you sunroof!
