Default Seat Back Damage

I have only had my brand new RS for 48 hours, and I managed to get a nick/scratch on the plastic (volcano grey) seat back. Bummer. I have ordered a replacement part (997 521 304 13 D07), and it is surprisingly inexpensive (about $200). But does anyone have any experience replacing the back? Is it hard to do, and will the result look as good as new?

Why not have them painted instead?

I had a look at the seats. They're ... "complex."

I'd be in favor of getting them masked and painted without disassembly. It would have to be a helluva bad "nick" to bother pulling the seat and replacing the back panel.

Did you figure out how they got nicked? Did you have something in the back seat that hit it?

Yep, I let someone put something in the back seat and unfortunately they got nicked. Not interested in having them painted though (I like the stock volcano grey look). Thx

I just watched a guy spend 6 hours trying to disassemble a 997 seat without breaking anything and he still broke a bunch of stuff and we had to send the car to the trim shop to replace the frame in end.

Yikes -- was it a dealer who tried to do this? I have spoken with a couple of local P dealers today, and they all seem to claim (i) that they have done this before, (ii) pretty easy to do (but just takes time and care) and (ii) cost is about 1.5 hrs of labor.

Get the dealer to do it. Let them deal with the possible problems.

I believe Brad (99firehawk) is with a dealer - at least with an experienced group of mechs.

You're supposed to make sure you tie their hands and feet together and remove their high heels before you stuff them in the back of your car!! How many times do I have to say this.....uh oh...wrong forum....how do I delete this?

Wow -- when you say "frame" are you referring to hard-shell (plastic) seat back?

Ah, thanks -- as part of the process, was it difficult for the tech to just remove the plastic hard back shell? I could see how the frame removal could tricky, but what about just the shell?

the question you have to ask youself, is saving 1-200$ worth risking damaging the leather
