I heard this information over the weekend from a pretty reliable source. It will be interesting to see how much of it comes true in the future...

1. A car without a sunroof was crash tested for the RS.

2. People are now being able to order RS’s in colors outside the five known colors.

3. No more 997 GT3 or RS’s.

4. The next Carrera will debut in September at the Frankfurt auto show as a 998 with the front face lift, new Euro pedestrian bumper requirements & multiport injection.

5. 998 GT3/RS will come out next spring with the new Euro pedestrian bumper requirements and supposedly the GT3 will be available without a sunroof.

I think you'll find the 998 is 3 to 4 years away.

A 'facelift' 997 is anticipated some time in 2008.

Current gt3 and RS production may well end later this year, with a second series for 2009.

pretty interesting. would love to know where the source is coming from as i found them hard to believe in a common sense way. but since u said it's realible so we'll have to wait & see.

1. RS doesn't have sunroof anyways.

2. RS order is closed for 07 allocation unless there's 08 coming, but that won't make sense since source said, ''3. No more 997 GT3 or RS’s.''

3. no more 08 GT3? must be kidding. there are allocations out there.

4. the facelift 997 will most likely debut in Sept at Frankfurt but it will not be 998. the facelifted 996 back in 2002 didn't call 997.

5. pretty funny lol. in fact, they all are.

Believe me, I though it all sounded bizarre as well.

He didn’t say there won’t be 08’s only they wouldn’t be 997’s and they would be 998’s.

Well I think your source has a head full of marshmallows.

Come on, this is all conjecture, nobody knows for sure until something is announced and/or hits the ground.

We'll see what pans out. Maybe I'll tell him to put down the crack pipe.
On the other hand he is usually quite conservative with what he says.

Number 2. No change you will get an RS in any color outside the 5 offered. I tried, no way. I have a friend who's car production was suspended pending paint outside the 5 colors, he has been told no way all the way up the ladder. Requires Board approval - not gonna happen.
