"Fetching", I believe is the term.

However I am not at all sure she is of "the legal age". She could be 14 yrs old.

The 997S is really a great car and is much different than the 996 GT3. I am sure some of the 997GT3 owners can chime in and explain the differences. That said both are great cars, but the GT3 is more of a track focused car. Will you ever use the rear seats? Do you want a still suspension or R-compound tires? These are all personal tastes.

997S is a dime a dozen and you know what a dime is worth.

The GT3 is a special car. I would see what you think after driving one for awhile. The depreciation will be lower on the GT3.

My guess is the GT3 will feel more sedate than the 930.

i suspect on this board the answer is get the GT3.

I haven't had the privilege of driving a GT3 but my X51 keeps me busy and is an absolute blast for me to drive everyday. (i guess what you don't know won't hurt you .)

Wish that there were more convenient (closer) "real tracks" to easily get to from the LA area.

DIsplacement is the only thing the Cup and "S" engines have in common. They are totally different.

If you configure the 997 S with X51, and Aerokit, there's virtually no price difference.

I am not calling the GT3 a bargain, but, when compared to the 997 S with X51, and Aerokit, it is the better buy. Plus, you get the extra power, handling, and an awesome engine note. Oh yes, and a completely different engine block...

As a DD, the creature comforts, backseat make the S a better choice. As a weekend toy, I guess a GT3 would be the winner, really depends on how you are planning to use the car. Remamber, the 997S is a damn fast car, runs the 'ring nearly as fast as a 996GT3, and that's without the powerkit.

I don't do any track work except maybe a couple drivers ed weekends a year. It will be a weekend car only. I really like the looks of the GT3, but something tells me I might drive the S more often. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have both, 997s and a 997 GT3. If the weather is dry, I live in Northern Ca. on the coast, 60 miles to the first stoplight, not a lot of long straights , it's always the 3 that comes out. A little fog it's the S. A day trip to Santa Rosa the 3. A day trip to SF the S. Any trip north, the 3. No comparison between the two if you have the need to drive above 7 tenths it has to be the 3! At 135 the S gets a little light and feels as if it is darting around. At 156 the 3 feels like it's planted quite nicely. You can carry a ton more speed into the turns with the 3, took me awhile to realize what was happening before being comfortable with that. The Tq, unbelievable in the 3. I personaly prefer the ride of the 3 over the S especially at high speeds.

There is no doubt I am more comfortable driving the S in the city as I don't worry so much about parking or scraping the front. But then again the S is 2 years older! I just had to replace the rear tires on the 3 at 3740 miles. I got almost double that on the S's PS2's. I have clear bras on both cars but have noticed that the 3 is taking a real beating on the edges of the rear wheel wells from the rock chips and the sticky tires, but I bought my cars to drive so it's just the price of doing buisness here on the coast.

If I had to choose one? It would have to be the 3!

If it were feasible, I would be driving a GT3 right now. However, if the civility of the ride is of importance (It isn't to me), I would give the S serious consideration and, at the very least, a test drive.

Good luck. You really can't go wrong with either car.
