Default bumperette-ectomy

Doesn't look good as I would have thought with our fooked up squatty plates. What you think? This is a Rinspeed modded car lifted off 6 speed. Dig the car though.

I don't mind the bumperettes as long as there's a way to take off the extra weight on both ends (due to DOT). What's the best solution and how much weight can be saved?

Actually, a buddy of mine had some bumper material left over from another 911 that he had done the Euro bumper on. He had the bumperettes on his new, white 997 GT-3 lopped off and a custom piece made from the bumper material, grafted into place and meticulously prepped and painted. The result was flawless. I think he paid about a grand for the entire job. I couldn't find my photo, but it looked like the Euro rear bumper when all was finished.

Whoah! I love the look of that car from this angle, do you remember/have the link to the 6speed thread with that car!?

Thanks!

I like it without the bumperettes. My new bumper is waiting to be installed. Death to the bumperettes!

Here is a pic of the GT2 w/o the bumperettes.

We used to get Porsche with the bumperettes and that's what I used to do. Before taking delivery I'd ask the dealer to remove them and fill the panel in. I can't remember what I paid but it was a quite a bit less than $1000 for it. Thanks God that the 997 model range has Euro bumpers.

I didn't like them except they appear to have saved my paint when some moron backed into my car in a parking lot.

I don't mind them at all. How to get rid of the dead weight , though?

Personally I like the bumperettes, especially after the Peterbilt 18 wheeler ran into me TWICE ! in traffic. It saved the rear bumper.

Not dramatically better with our plates. Not worth the effort imho.

Funny, I always thought I'd like it more without. The newer bumperlettes are much better than the old heavy ones.
