I don't mind the bumperettes as long as there's a way to take off the extra weight on both ends (due to DOT). What's the best solution and how much weight can be saved?
Actually, a buddy of mine had some bumper material left over from another 911 that he had done the Euro bumper on. He had the bumperettes on his new, white 997 GT-3 lopped off and a custom piece made from the bumper material, grafted into place and meticulously prepped and painted. The result was flawless. I think he paid about a grand for the entire job. I couldn't find my photo, but it looked like the Euro rear bumper when all was finished.

We used to get Porsche with the bumperettes and that's what I used to do. Before taking delivery I'd ask the dealer to remove them and fill the panel in. I can't remember what I paid but it was a quite a bit less than $1000 for it. Thanks God that the 997 model range has Euro bumpers.
