I would love to be able to delete the sunroof.

Steel, yeah, but sheet metal is sooo thin these days. I was in a body shop a while back and was checking out some Honda Accord fenders. Light as a feather.
I could be wrong, but I'm doubting there's much of any weight savings with CF. If there is a bunch to gain, I'd prefer a painted CF roof panel and even then, only if it looked absolutely factory.

What are you? A sunroof salesman or something?
I will bet you a million bucks I will turn faster laps in a non sunroof GT3. I'll bet another cool million that I can repeatedly turn 10 minutes faster lap times in a sunroofless GT3. Or 20 minutes, or 30 or whatever you want.
P.S. I've been wondering where to mount an espresso maker (it's really handy on long trips and only weights about 10 lbs), do you have any suggestions?
Also, I think a microwave owen would be really handy, the small ones weight only about 45 lbs (same as a sunroof) and I think it will fit in the back seat just fine, wouldn't that be cool?

I just think the point of the comment was to say that there are very few people in the world who would notice a difference that the sunroof causes. Of course, most here don't deny that but don't want the sunroof for some other reason.
I'll say it again, I could care less.

I know Mitch but I think by now, eclou should've gotten our point too...
And again (and I know you agree), it's the sum of things. 45 lbs here, 10 there, 5 somewhere else, 20 more and you already have 80 lbs. Double that and you have just removed me from your passenger seat. I'll guarantee you'll notice that, at least it will be more quieter in the cabin!
And come one, you do care a little bit since you do want your GT3 to be lighter, no?
If all the GT3 (or any Porsche owners for that matter) was given the choice to have their car 45 lbs lighter, I doubt many would deny it. OK, I'm not sure about eclou but other than that, who wouldn't want that?

The truth is that I will be removing the mechanicals from the sunroof, for sure. If only to stay in front of you!!! I would have rather had the car without it but I couldn't. I feel lucky that I have the car to begin with. It is an awesome car. Sure I want it lighter and will do as much as I can without molesting the car to get it lighter. Next year, when they offer the car with a sunroof delete option, maybe I'll get one. Or maybe next year when they start production of the '08 RS, I'll get one of those. For now, I will enjoy my sunroofed car.

See, I knew you care!
I agree. To have 997 GT3 with a sunroof or not to have a 997 GT3 at all? Oh yeah, take the friggin hole!
However, as already pointed out in other thread, removing it is not that big of a deal and if it's correct that RUF does it for $2K (+ another $2k for parts I assume), a no brainer for those who don't want it.
"Gasoline for the roadtrip to RUF Dallas, $500.
Couple of nights at the "Dallas Quality Inn", $200
Steaks and beer, $600
Fee for removing the sunroof, $4000
Picking up the car from RUF and driving it home without the sunroof, priceless!"
