Exclamation 2008 Z06 SS vs GT3

2008 Z06 SS 6.2V SC 650HP

2008 GT3 415HP

For me, I will take the GT3.

However, 650HP is very hot.

I think it would be faster than the GT3 and even the GT2?

What do you think and which one do you like more?

Serious? Asking that on a GT3 board? How fast do you possibly think you can go in a 997GT3? I am willing to be you would be not only faster in the GT3 but never able to tap all the potential out of it. Now if you were to ask an UNBIASED race car driver then you might get a better answer.

But if for pure entertainment only, I'll play. I agree with you. I'll take the 3 every day of the week around town as well as every track day. As for the sound, there is just no comparison. I'll take the 6-8K+ scream of the GT1 motor over the growl of the 650hp chevy motor.

What about the handling?

The GT3 is wonderful.

What about the Z06?

Not sure about the Z06 and the handling. Nor would I ever check into it. It's a totally different type of car......big horsepower, engine in the wrong place, etc.

Next time you are at your local track, look around at all the "older" cars. What do you see? A couple of BMW's, and a whole lot of Porsche's. How many Vettes? None you say? What's that tell you?

Sure you can say that now they are built much better, yada yada....

Until I see ten year old Vettes running reliably at the track, I'll stick with the tried and true.

Porsche, there really is no substitutue!

+1 and I have a C5 convertible. THey are two different cars. Both are enjoyable to drive in their own right. If I had to choose between them both I'd choose the Porsche BUT it was nearly DOUBLE the price and the one in my garage has sentimental value as it was my dad's so it isn't going anywhere.

Hhmmmm... That's a tough question !

We don't know much about the new "Blue Devil" except... it will have ~600/ 650 hp. (maybe more) !

Lutz now says 600 hp.

But that may be smoke being blown at the Dodge boys in hope they don't increase the hp. on the 2008 Viper.

Current plans indicate... It will be "supercharged"... which often doesn't work too well on road courses.

Chevy's talking weight reduction... but with the added supercharger & support equipment... the Blue Devil may be hard pressed to stay at ~3130 lbs.

Until more information becomes available... guessing would be a crap-shoot.

I don't see why they are supercharging it. You can take the Z06 to Lingenfelter and for less that $10K installed with a warranty, you can have 616hp NA. Unless the SS has some altered CF bodywork and is significantly lighter, I see no reason to get it over the Z06.

I have personal knowledge....and the, Blue Devil, SS, Sting Ray or whatever it is finally called will be totally wicked. There will be more trick bits besides the engine...now that's all I can say.

A 650hp 'vette? I'd (much) rather upgrade a 993 Turbo to 650hp. Or 750hp for that matter.

And what does a blown vetter have to do with GT3s?
