all good points icon... i guess one of the reasons i went with cup car for the lighter weight
but i was only giving an opion for the question ... concerning does the the gt3 need more hp..or is it enough...
i agree on less weight for consumables.. cup car the tires and brake pads and rotors last longer
but to each his own need more hp get it ..

Big horsepower is not essential for track use (although it is lots of fun). But it is needed for the very quick 200-300 km/h times that Europeans use on the autobahn.
Track and back roads: GT3.
Track, back roads and autobahn: GT2.

As other folks say, horsepower is just one of many factors.
Watch this Top Gear video. It compares the:
- BMW M6 (501hp)
- 997S (that's not even GT3 or X51 997S, just a regular 355hp 997S)
- Aston (380hp)
Top Gear -- Aston vs BMW vs Porsche
In the video, a short road course, the 355hp 997S was 6 seconds faster than the 501hp M6. The 6 seconds is big difference in a short course, and that is a 146hp difference between the M6 and the 997S!
With best regards,
