Get a DasSport bar. I bought one. I will report back when I install it in my 997 GT3. I should have the car in a week or so.

looks like the 996 techquipment bar *will* fit in the 997 GT3. One unresolved question is will the *997* bar accept shoulder straps from a 6pt?

Ryan: What are you going to replace it with? Just curious.

The 996 Teq bar is a direct fit into any 997 with no mods.

i dont understand the question.
most good bars will have a cross bar in the main hoop, thus they should all accept shoulder strap from a 6 pt or 5 pt.

Hmmm...According to Suncoast's website, it is not compatible to 5 or 6 pts? Could they be mistaken?

Default 997 GT3 Bar

I see that this thread has come back to life. I wrestled with this issue on my GT3 when I got it last spring. I installed the 997 tech bar which performed flawlessly. It also works perfectly with the Hans device and harnesses. I removed the bar this winter, was thinking about a full cage, and then went with the Dassport Bar.

Ryan, I notice that you're going with the Dassport bar. Good Choice. Before you install, I have a trick for the front insertion point bolts. I picked up rocker arm studs from a 427 chevy and used these as the bolts. The advantage is that you can have the bar bolted into the car body, but separately take the lower attachment of the seat belt on and off. If you're interested, I have a few bolts left (eight cylinder engine block - I only used 2 of the bolts). I'll post pics if you guys are interested.

Default Pics of Dassport Install 997 GT3

Some pics of the install with the rocker arm stud bolt used for insertion of selt belt. This allows me to take off the seat belt to change my seat easily during race season without taking out the bolt that secures the bar. The rocker arm stud bolts pictured are a perfect fit (7/16 - 20 / and seat belt side 7/16 - 14).

wow, never seen that bar before.
maybe the horizontal bar is too short, i dont know why it won't work, but i defer to their expertise in this matter.

My 996 Tequipment bar fits great in my 997 GT-3. Mind you, it's an exercise in patience and spatial orientation, but it goes in and bolts up just fine.

That seems like a good idea. How did you mount the race lap belt? I plan to get a DAS bar. I presumed that I would use the harness bolt with the ring to anchor the front bar mount. The snap on lap belt then attaches to the ring.
